YouTube Stars (Grades K-8) – Summer Camp – June 26-30, 2023
June 26 @ 9:00 am - June 30 @ 4:00 pm
$40.00 – $349.00Does your child want to be the next YouTube superstar? Let us show them the ropes! This camp teaches real-world video production and animation skills. Kids will learn how to:
- Stay safe on the Internet and in their videos
- Plan their videos and animations, including storyboarding and scripting
- Record and edit their videos
- Film stop-motion animations
- Export videos for YouTube
Each child will make a stop-motion animation and at least one “let’s play” (gameplay/game walkthrough) video on a computer. The rest of their videos will be done without computers.
Important: Kids will spend about 1.5 days making gaming videos on computers. They will not spend the entire week making gaming videos. Please set their expectations accordingly.
You can see examples of videos kids have already made on our YouTube channel.
Important: Each student needs a USB headset with a microphone for this class. We very highly recommend this one: https://amzn.to/3CJVD2. We know that particular headset works every time with our hardware and software. If you want your child to use a different headset, please ensure it’s USB and not 3.5mm headphones and microphone jacks. If your child isn’t using the recommended headset, your child might have to use the mic on the computer (background noise, ick!). Please ensure your child’s headset is labeled with their name, and bring it to and from camp each session.
There is a $10 lab fee for this camp.
Game Accounts
During this camp, kids can use Minecraft and Roblox game accounts on computers and tablets when they record their gameplay videos. We cannot create accounts for your kids. Kids should have their login information memorized and written down for reference. These are not required, but if your child wants to play one of these games in their videos, they will need their login information.
We recommend turning off two-factor authentication. Otherwise, we’ll be calling you for login codes!! For Minecraft accounts, please make sure your child’s account can access multi-player servers.
