Young Inventors (Grades K-2) and Game Design & Coding with Roblox (Grades 3-8) – July 25-29, 2022
July 25 @ 9:00 am - July 29 @ 4:00 pm$40.00 – $339.00
This week we’re running 2 topics at once!
- Young Inventors for Grades K-2: In this fun camp, our youngest inventors will have a chance to show off their problem-solving and engineering skills. They will learn about the invention process, simple machines, and complex machines. We will turn trash into treasure! There is a $10 lab fee for this camp.
- Game Design & Coding with Roblox for Grades 3-8: Kids will learn how to use Roblox Studio to create and customize objects, add checkpoints, and more. They will use real Lua code, in a drag-and-drop editor, to add scripts to their Roblox games. As kids progress and become more comfortable with Lua, they can try to type the code. They will spend 90 minutes to 3 hours each day doing offline, Roblox-themed activities, to give their brains and eyes a break from screens. If your child previously attended this camp, or they have been doing Roblox coding in our Coder Kids Club, they will be given advanced projects to work on. Each student will need a Roblox account for this camp; we cannot create the accounts for them, so please do so in advance, and make sure that your child knows their login information and two-factor authentication is turned off (or they have access to the email for it), otherwise, we will need to reach you when your child needs to access their account. There is a $35 lab fee for this camp.
Please base your ticket selection on the grade your child is/was in for the 2021-22 school year. The Game Design & Coding with Roblox camp is very challenging, so any child who will not be at least a rising 4th grader must come in for in-person testing prior to registration (contact us to schedule). We reserve the right to move children who have not completed at least 3rd grade into the Young Inventors camp if we determine that Game Design & Coding with Roblox is too challenging for them. If your child was in Pre-K for the school year, contact us to schedule an evaluation meeting before you register for Young Inventors.
