Wonder League Robotics Club – Fall 2016 – Homeschool
September 16, 2016 @ 1:45 pm - 2:45 pm
$200.00
Code for gold in this year’s Wonder League Robotics Competition! The competition is open to kids in grades 1 through 6, and so is this class. Your mission is to save the environment with your handy robot sidekicks, Dash and Dot. Are you up for the challenge? No experience required!
We will put the kids into teams of no more than 3, each with a set of robots, accessories, and a tablet. The kids will spend a few weeks learning how to use the robots, and then when the competition starts in October, they will work through all of the competition missions. This is a national competition, with awesome prizes! Last year the grand prize team won an amazing, all-expenses paid, STEM field trip to California.
This club meets on Fridays, 1:45-2:45pm, September 16-December 16 (no meetings October 21 or November 25) for a total of 12 weeks of meetings. We will also have open play sessions on Wednesdays, 1:45-2:45pm, starting in mid-October, for any kids who need extra time working with the robots for the competition.
Important: In addition to the cost of the class, we might have a modest materials fee, to help offset the cost of materials that will be used during the competition, or we will ask for parents to donate the materials. For the 2015 competition, the materials included items such as a 10×10 tarp, painter’s tape, plastic cups, felt, and pipe cleaners. We won’t know what the materials are until closer to the competition, and will let everyone know as soon as that info is released.
