Modding Roblox with Lua (Grades 3-8) – Monday Morning
November 11 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 10:30 am on Monday, repeating until December 2, 2019
Kids in grades 3-8 can learn how to use Lua and Roblox Studio to create their own Roblox obstacle course (obby) game. An experienced programmer will walk kids through setting up their development environment, using Roblox Studio, and designing and coding a basic obby. If kids have time, they will work on a second game.
Previous programming experience is helpful, but not required. This class is a great follow-up to older kids who already know Scratch or who took our Introduction to Programming (K-5) class. If you have a younger child who would like to attend this class, please contact us prior to registering them.
This class meets Mondays, 10:30am-12pm, November 11-December 2, 2019. There is a $20 lab fee (per student) to cover the software license required for the code editor used in this class. That fee will be added to your cart when you register for this class.
After kids attend this class, we do recommend signing up for the Coder Kids Club, so they can continue to practice working on their coding skills. We also have an introductory Modding Minecraft with Java class for kids who would like to create mods in that environment.
Important: Your child must have a Roblox account for this class. We cannot make accounts for kids. If your child doesn’t have an account, you must create one prior to the first session of class, and provide your child with the login info. Make sure you disable two-factor authentication for this class, or give your child access to the email address linked to the account.
