Modding Minecraft with Java (Grades 3-8) – Monday Mornings
October 14 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 10:30 am on Monday, repeating until November 4, 2019
This class is cancelled due to low enrollment. Please enroll in the Tuesday night class instead.
Kids in grades 3-8 can learn how to use Java to create their own Minecraft mods. An experienced programmer will walk kids through setting up their development environment, using the code editor, and a basic mod example (Sheep City, with exploding arrows and other cool stuff). Kids usually have time to work through 1-2 additional mods after they complete the first one.
Previous programming experience is helpful, but not required. This class is a great follow-up to older kids who already know Scratch or who took our Introduction to Programming (K-5) class. If you have a younger child who would like to attend this class, please contact us prior to registering them.
This class meets Mondays, 10:30am-12pm, October 14-November 4, 2019. There is a $20 lab fee (per student) to cover the software license required for the code editor used in this class. That fee will be added to your cart when you register for this class.
After kids attend this class, we do recommend signing up for the Coder Kids Club, so they can continue to practice working on their coding skills. We also have an introductory Modding Roblox with Lua class for kids who would like to create mods in that environment.
Important: Your child must have a Minecraft: Java Edition account ($26.95) for this class. We cannot make accounts for kids. If your child doesn’t have an account, you must purchase one prior to the first session of class, and provide your child with the login info.
