Modding Minecraft (Grades 3-8) – Summer Camp – July 15-19, 2019
July 15 @ 9:00 am - July 19 @ 4:00 pm$30 – $315
Join us for a week of Minecraft Modding. Kids will learn how to install and use mods. They will then build their own mods, using real Java code in a drag-and-drop editor. As kids progress, and become more comfortable with Java, they can try to type the code.
We’ll also spend part of the day in our STEAM Lab, where kids will do Minecraft-themed activities to explore topics in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.
When you register for this camp, a Lab Fee of $35 will be added to your cart, to cover the cost of materials for some of the STEAM activities (kids will take the fruits of their labors home), and the license fee for the modding software we use in camp. You can purchase a subscription with the modding software vendor to access the mods after camp.
This camp is for kids who were in grades 3 through 8 during the 2018-19 school year. We have Robotics running concurrently for kids who were in grades K through 2. If your younger child has considerable programming experience, and you think he or she should attend this camp, please contact us before you register, as we will need to evaluate your child.
This camp is Monday through Friday, 9am-4pm. Before and after care may be available for an additional cost. Please let us know if you need them when you register.
Kids should bring the following with them each day:
- A nut-free lunch and snacks
- A water bottle
Kids must have their own Minecraft: Java Edition accounts for this camp. This account is required, and we cannot create accounts for your children, so please create one in advance. If you have more than one child attending this camp, each child must have his or her own account. You can purchase an account at: https://minecraft.net/en-us/store/minecraft/
