Introduction to Programming for Homeschoolers – Winter 2019

February 4, 2019 @ 10:45 am - 11:45 am

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 10:45 am on Monday, repeating until March 18, 2019

Kids in grades 3-8 can learn how to code in this introductory class for absolute beginners. We will use Scratch to walk them through activities that will give them a basic understanding of programming concepts such as:

  • Algorithms
  • Operators
  • Boolean Logic
  • Loops
  • Variables

This class meets on Mondays, February 4-March 18, 10:45-11:45am. We will not have class on February 18.

Upon completion of this class, kids can either join our ongoing Coder Kids Club for Homeschoolers, which takes place on Mondays, 10:30am-12:00pm, or continue to the one of these classes (which will be added soon!):

  • Game Design with Scratch
  • Modding Minecraft with Java
  • Introduction to Python
If your child is already using Scratch in school, this class will probably be too easy for him or her, and we suggest either joining our Coder Kids Club, or waiting until one of the more advanced classes listed above.

Kids who are already members of our Coder Kids Club may sit in on this class, if they wish, at no additional cost. It might be a good review for the concepts they have already learned!
