In this 8-week course, kids will learn how to expand Minecraft by creating their own mods, using LearnToMod. Class meets every Thursdays, 6:45-8:00pm, for 8 weeks (January 14-March 3), for a total of 10 hours. Kids will be playing Minecraft within the context of the the mods we build. Children will learn the following in this class:

• How to install Minecraft Forge and community mods
• How to use LearnToMod’s mod development tool and Minecraft simulator
• How to use the mods we create within Minecraft PC
• How to build a mob summoner mod
• How to build a simple arena game mod

Programming experience is very highly recommended, but not required.

This course is for children in grades 3-8. Younger children might be able to participate, but some of the concepts and work will be tough for them to follow, so if you wish to enroll, please plan to attend class with your child to help him or her.

Important: This is a foundational course, to introduce programming and mod development concepts. In this class, we will walk the kids through creating some basic mods, and won’t necessarily make exactly the mod each child has in mind.  That can frustrate some kids, so please keep that in mind when considering this class.
