Gamer Club: Making 3D Games with Kodu Game Lab
October 9, 2015 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm$35.00
Would your gamer like to make his or her own games? During this 3-hour club, kids will learn the basics of Kodu, a free game creation tool for Windows and Xbox. We’ll start off by playing a game that was created in Kodu, so the kids can get a feel for the environment. Then we’ll walk through some demos, to show the kids how to create their own 3D worlds, add and control PCs (player characters) and NPCs (non-player characters), add and interact with objects, and more. The kids will then be set loose, to create their own games.
No programming? No problem! Kodu uses a simple, visual programming language that even kids with no programming experience can use. Plus there’s minimal typing, so as long as your child is very comfortable using a computer and mouse, and can read at about a 1st grade level, he or she can follow along. And even if the reading isn’t quite there, we’ll have helpers in the class to make sure younger kids can keep up with everyone. Your child will get a great intro to basic programming concepts during this class! We’re recommending this class for ages 6-12.
We will provide pizza and snacks for the kids during class. If your child has any allergies or dietary restrictions that might prevent them from enjoying what we provide, please be sure to bring something for your child to enjoy.
